Flora Mae Lorenz, born October 13, 1930, entered the presence of our dear Lord and “everlasting compass” on January 19, 2021 in her home with her family present.
Flora was born in Tuscarawas, Ohio to Hazel (Wilson) and John Walton where she spent most of her adventurous childhood years. She then moved to Uhrichsville and graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1948.
She was an excellent student, always loving and looking forward to attending school and the Lutheran Church, sharing stories with her family constantly about teachers and friends. After graduation, Flora’s career included bank teller, retail sales clerk, office employee for ODNR, but mostly as a homemaker.
She married Charles E. Lorenz, also of Tuscarawas at an early age and shared 42 years of marriage with him prior to his passing in December of 1992.
A gentle but very honest person, and individualistic, Flora shared so much of herself as she and Charles raised four children here in Tuscarawas County and briefly in Mt. Lebanon, PA, where she loved to take the trolley to downtown Pittsburgh. She was, and always will be, a guiding “voice” in our lives, reminding us of the simple principles of life and how we must hold fast to the belief that prayer and a personal relationship with Jesus is essential in everything we do.
Living family members include her children, Charles Lorenz II, Dee Lorenz (Kevin Sherer), Kay Lorenz-Trunk (Larry) and Joy Patterson (Brett); grandson, Brett Patrick Patterson II (companion, Caitlynn Long), as well as her sisters, Betty McGarry and Donna Cox and her step-grandchildren and families.
Passing on before her was her sister, Eileen Brown and brother, Jack Walton as well as other close family members.
Private interment will take place in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery where she was a member for many years. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
