ZITA DONOFRIO, 79, of New Philadelphia, passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 5, 2002. She was born in Roswell on April 28, 1922 to the late Maximillian J. and Anna M. Manini Dapoz, and attended Sacred Heart and St. Joseph schools. She was a devoted wife, mother and cherished grandmother. Zita was a member of Sacred Heart Church and its Altar Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters, Sacred Heart Senior Citizens, the Tuscarawas Senior Citizens, and the Roswell Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. Zita also liked traveling with her family and friends, and spending time with her grandson, Jeremy. She is survived by her husband, Eugene L. Donofrio, with whom she would have celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary on May 17, 2002; daughter, Cathy (John) Banks of New Philadelphia; son, Gene Donofrio of New Philadelphia; grandson, Jeremy Banks of New Philadelphia; sister, Fortunata Menapace of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Zita was preceded in death by her brothers Chester, John, and Max Dapoz. The funeral mass will be Saturday, February 9, 2002 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Msgr. George J. Schlegel as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia, with a reception afterward to be held in St. Ambrose Hall at the church. Calling hours will be in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Friday, February 8, 2002, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with the rosary being recited at 7:30 PM.
