Wishard Patrick

Wishard “Pat” Patrick, age 79, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 12, 2014 in his residence.

A son of the late Dale and Nora (Sizemore) Patrick, Wishard was born in the family home at Magoffin County, Kentucky.

At the age of nine, the family relocated to the Tuscarawas Valley and following his schooling, he entered into the United States Air Force. He honorably served his country during the Korean War where he was stationed at Fort Worth, Texas.

In 1959, following his nine year career with the Air Force, Wishard returned to Mineral City. In 1960 he married the former Louise Fantin and together the couple raised one son.

For 35 years, Wishard was a Union Iron Worker with Iron Workers Local 550 at Canton. Following his retirement he served as the chairman of the Local 550 ½ Retirement Club.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved to travel and spend time with his family.

Wishard will be missed by his wife, Louise; their son, Randolph, “Randy” Patrick of Caldwell, Ohio; three grandchildren, Randall (Leah) Patrick of Uhrichsville, Catherine Patrick of Mineral City, and Caleb Patrick also of Uhrichsville as well as two great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Gabriella Patrick.

Completing the family are two brothers Wiley and Jimmy Dale Patrick both of Leavittsville, Ohio; three sisters, Rena Haney of Dover, Virginia Fowler and Vonita (Bernie) Sampsell all of Mineral City as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wishard was preceded in death by three sisters, Dolly Price, Lena Courim, Mary Louise Fantin, and Anita Patrick.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Christian Wake services will begin at 3:45 PM. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services, all are invited to share in a meal and fellowship in St. Ambrose Hall, adjacent to the church.
