Wilma Ruth Fetters

Wilma Ruth Fetters, 92, of New Philadelphia, passed away October 20, 2014 at Hennis Care Center in Dover, following a longtime battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born October 2, 1922 to the late John R. Scott and Amanda (Ensley) Byers Scott in Goshen Township, Wilma was a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County. In 1940, she graduated from the former Midvale High School.

On July 17, 1976, Wilma married the late William J. Fetters, celebrating 31 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 5, 2008.

Wilma was one of the first employees of Tower Communications, where she worked as the Bookkeeper for 31 years. She was a member of the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445, AARP, and Community of Christ Church. An avid stamp collector and dancer, Wilma also enjoyed fishing, and especially spending time at the family’s cottage on Lake Erie.

Wilma is survived by her son, Richard A. (Roberta) Rausch, Sr. of New Philadelphia; a grandson, Richard (Jen) Rausch, Jr., New Philadelphia; great-grandchildren Kayla Rausch and Jacob Rausch; three step-children; eight step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Wilma was preceded in death by a son, William W. Rausch, granddaughter, Carrie Ann Rausch; five brothers, Lester Byers, Delbert Byers, Dixon Scott, Merle Scott and Stanton Byers; two sisters, Bessie Scott and Vera Scott Cox; and a step-great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m. A service celebrating her life will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Elder Rose Lomax officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445 Scholarship Fund, 441 Park Avenue NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
