Wilma May Mizer

Wilma May Mizer, 94, formerly of Stone Creek, died Friday, November 22, 2013 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late William and Grace (Kiser) Stephan, Wilma was born July 8, 1919 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.

Wilma graduated from Stone Creek High School in 1937 and she was the last surviving member of her graduating class. She was a member of Grace Community Church at Stone Creek where she was also active with the quilting guild.

She had a love for being outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Wilma also enjoyed quilting and crocheting as well as baking.

She is survived by a niece, Carol (Dave) Smith of Smithville; two nephews, Larry (Lynn) Stephan and Dale Mumaw both of Dover; great nieces, Amy (Leon) Yoder of Stone Creek and Stephanie Smith of Smithville; two great nephews, Terry (Pam) Mizer of Stone Creek and Matthew Smith of Smithville and a sister-in-law, Erma Mumaw of Dover.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Emerson Mizer who passed away on October 29, 2005. The couple was married on November 8, 1945. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Stephan; a niece, Diane Mizer and a nephew, Bruce Mumaw.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2013 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Grace Community Church at Stone Creek. A funeral service celebrating Wilma’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the church with Pastor Paul Houdashelt officiating. Burial alongside her husband will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery.
