Wilma Aileen Hill, 94, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018, while in the care of Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Aileen, as she was known to family and friends, was born at Vandalia, Missouri on November 24, 1923. She was the daughter of the late William Albert and Clara Louise Vatterrodt Nation.
On June 26, 1943 at Maxwell Field, Alabama, Aileen married Kenneth Franklin Hill. At the time, Ken was an Aviation Cadet in the United States Army Air Corps. Aileen accompanied Ken to various bases as his training progressed. During Ken’s 27-plus-year career with the Air Force, she dutifully cared for and adored their six children.
Aileen enjoyed caring for her pets, her vegetable garden and flower beds. As retirement age came about, the couple spent many years RVing across the United States.
In addition to her husband, Aileen is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Rose Marie) Hill, Jr. of Merritt Island, Florida, Dan A. Hill of Sugar Land, Texas, Ronald Hill of Columbus and daughters, Kathleen (James) Green of Newcomerstown and Darleen Grimm of Uhrichsville; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Aileen was preceded in death by a daughter, Marleen Ballentine; her twin brother, Wilbur Alton Nation, and siblings, Lorean Herrmann, Calvin Nation, Edward Nation, Ina May Hicks, William T. Nation, Norman Nation and Dazylea Lang.
In keeping with her wishes, a service celebrating Aileen’s life will be held at a later date. Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory has conducted cremation care.
