William “Bill” J. Wheeler, 63, of Dover, died Friday, May 7, 2004.Bill was born in Hayesville, NC., November 2, 1940, to the late Bernice Wheeler and was a 1960 graduate of Thomasville High School (North Carolina).He was a disabled veteran having served in the United States Air force and the Marine Corp., was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Dover, a member of the New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club since 1995, was a church greeter and was active in various church ministries, his preference for the King James version of the bible was well known and he enjoyed gospel and “oldies” music as well as making various crafts.He is survived by his wife, Mary H. (Barr) Wheeler whom he married September 30, 1980, a step-son, William David (Lyhne) Smith of West Bloomfield, MI, a granddaughter, Trinity Smith also of West Bloomfield, a sister, Betty Jean (Randy) Bechtel, of East Canton, a brother-in-law, Don Immel, of Millersburg, a sister-in-law, Dixie Malter, of Dennison and nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00am at The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory in New Philadelphia with Dr. James Green officiating. Visiting hours will also be held Wednesday at the funeral home between the hours of 9 and 11am. Burial will follow at Ridgcrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club Childrens fund or Cornerstone Support Services.
