William L. Wallace, age 76, of Uhrichsville passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 in Union Hospital at Dover.
He was born in Uhrichsville to the late Henry Anderson Wallace and Margaret Montague Bell Wallace on March 12, 1941.
Will graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1959 where he had a passion for basketball. He served in the United States Army as a medic in 1963-1965. He had a 30-year career with Fleming Foods, formerly McClain Foods, where he was employed as a truck driver.
Will’s life centered around family. Rarely a day went by when Will did not spend time with or speak on the phone with one of his beloved family members. He will be fondly remembered as a loving, kind, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Walking and biking were among his many passions. He loved biking on the Conotton Creek Trail and walking the Panhandle Passage Trail with friends. He also spent countless hours of “stroller time” walking with his grandchildren and his best four-legged friend, Zeb. Additionally, Will was a talented and gifted woodworker and craftsman who enjoyed building furniture for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Joyce Elaine Newton, whom he married on August 10, 1967; their children, Kim (Greg) Zontini of New Philadelphia, Marti Langdon, Bill Wallace and Bub (Jenn) Wallace all of Uhrichsville; and 10 grandchildren, Jessika Zontini, Will, Joe, Matt and Jack Langdon, Averi, Hannah, Kendyl, Kole, and Whitnee Wallace.
Completing the family are two sisters, Eleanor (Joseph) Maffo of South Carolina and Vikki Fawcett of Dennison; a brother-in-law, Ernie Moore of Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Will was preceded in death by a brother, John Wallace and three sisters, Nancy Burns, Connie Moore and Bonnie Custer.
A memorial service celebrating Will’s life will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 1:00 – 1:30 PM in the First Presbyterian Church at Uhrichsville with Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. A private graveside service will be held in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville at a later date. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
