William S. LoPresti

December 12, 1925 — April 28, 2005

William Santo “Bill” LoPresti, 79, of Dover, went to be with the Maker, Thursday April 28, 2005.William was born December 20, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA to Joseph S. and Providenza Teresi LoPresti. He was a 1947 graduate of Muskingum College and a WWII Army veteran serving as a corporal in the 3010th Army Air Force unit.William retired as a teacher and basketball coach from Dover High School. He also taught and coached at Old Washington High School, and Carrollton High School. Following his retirement, he continued teaching at Buckeye Vocational, (currently) Buckeye Career Ctr., His students and players always respected him, years later still calling him ” Mr. LoPresti.”He also worked as a carpenter and a builder, and was readily available to lend a hand. Bill had been a part owner of the former Carrollton Concrete Co., and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover.He will be missed by many, including his wife, May (Pernatozzi), whom he married May 27, 1946; his children, Laurel A. (David) Civiello, of New Philadelphia, William M. (Linda) LoPresti, of Charlotte, NC, Cheryl L. Wetzel, of New Philadelphia, Steven A. (Anna) LoPresti, of East Sparta, and Mark D. LoPresti, of Dover; brother, Michael A. LoPresti, of Lancaster, O; grandsons, Andrew, Ian, Matthew, Billy, Rico, Marko, Louis and Steven; granddaughter, Mellissa Doran and her husband David, of Brightwood, who cared for him and were with him until the end; and great grandchildren Erik, Kyle and Conner. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Thomas and Anthony LoPresti, Antoinette Folino, Mary Nuzzo, Joseph LoPresti and Rose LoPresti.His family and friends were blest to have him for 79 years, and now heaven will have him forever.Visitation will be Sunday, May 1, 2005, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at 5600 North Wooster Ave., Dover, where Christian wake services will be held at 7:30 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 2, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Dover and a memorial reception will be held in the hospitality room at the Geib Funeral Center immediately following the committal. Memorial contributions in memory of Bill may be made to St. Joseph Church, 613 N. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover, O. 44622, the Tuscarawas Co. Senior Center, 233 Third St., Dover, O. 44622, or the soccer program at Dover High School, 219 W. Sixth St. Dover, O. 44622.
