William Nelson Morrison, age 88, of New Philadelphia, died early, Thursday, August 8, 2024, while in the care of Crossroads Hospice while in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover.
Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on November 20, 1935, Bill was a son of the late William Jackson Morrison and Faye Zelma Utter Morrison.
Bill served eight years with the Ohio National Guard and on September 18, 1953, he married Ruth Irene Berndt. Together the couple had seven children and shared in 54 years of marriage prior to her passing on February 16, 2008.
Bill was the owner and operator of Trenton Autobody for many years, a job which he enjoyed as he was able to perfect his craft and meticulously repair countless vehicles. His love for cars didn’t stop in the body shop as he later enjoyed working for the Society for Equal Access as a driver and hated to retire due to poor health. He loved being behind the wheel and driving all over enjoying new sights.
In addition to his love for the automobile, Bill enjoyed family gatherings, trips to countless casinos, and working puzzle books and caring for his beloved cat, Charlie.
He is survived by his family that includes his children, Ruth Kinsey of Stone Creek, Rhonda Steiner of Dennison, Renee (Dave) Misko of Scio, Rae Ann Beird of New Philadelphia, Rick (Carol) Morrison, of Deerfield, Robert Morrison of New Philadelphia and Roger Morrison of Uhrichsville; 16 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Completing the family is a nephew, Walter Stewart of Dennison.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Stewart; a niece, Melanie Edwards; and two sons-in-law, Jerry Steiner and Les Kinsey.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.
