William “Bill” Melville Kollar, 89, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, Saturday, June 21, 2003, at noon. Born September 1, 1913, he was one of thirteen children in the late Albert V. and Anna Roberts Kollar family. Mr. Kollar was an avid outdoorsman and coon hunter and was the oldest member of the Tuscarawas County Coon Club. Bill was also a member of the Harrison County Coon Club, the National Rifle Association, and was a former member of the United Mine Workers. He retired from the former Warner & Swasey after many years of service as a parts man and driver. Survivors include his companion and caregiver, Lillian Aubihl, a daughter, Rita (Richard) Miller of El Dorado Springs, MO, and son, John W. Kollar, of Akron, two sisters; Wanda (David) Ehrhart of Dover and Jane Milburn of New Philadelphia, three brothers; Fred (Kitty) Kollar of Dover and Jim (Betty) and Vic (Helen) Kollar both of New Philadelphia, a granddaughter, Rita (Jerry) Ham of Squires, MO, grandson William Jackson of Dennison, and two great-grandchildren; Amanda M. Miller and Michelle Whittemore both of Squires, MO. His wife of 63 years, Nora M. Murphy Kollar, preceded him in death on August 24, 1999. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by a daughter; Maureen Kollar, and son; Phillip Kollar, three sisters and four brothers. Friends should call Monday from 5 to 8 at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Rev. Harry “Bud” Milligan will officiate funeral services Tuesday afternoon at 1PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial, alongside his wife, will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery. Following the committal service, a meal will be served in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. In gratitude for their exemplary service, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
