William Leroy Freed

April 15, 1944 — April 13, 2003

William L. Freed, 58, of Goshen, died suddenly Sunday, April 13, 2003, at his residence.Born in Dennison on April 15, 1944, he was a son of the late John William and Mary Elizabeth (Gallagher) Freed.After graduating from Lakeland High School in 1964, he began a career with Buckeye Machine in 1968 as a clerk. Pastimes Bill enjoyed greatly included participating with his son in the Great Trail Musketeers and fishing. He was also a faithful member of the Daystar Holiness Chapel in Columbia.Together with his wife, Sharon Mae (Mehok) Freed, whom he married on July 11, 1971, he raised his son, Andy, of the home. In addition to his wife and son, Bill is survived by two sisters, Sara (Sam) Butt of New Philadelphia and Brenda Lee of Uhrichsville; two brothers, Richard (Betty) Freed of Dennison and Daniel (Vickie) Freed of New Philadelphia; sisters-in-law, Paula (Mark) Putnam and Amy (Jay) Goudy both of Goshen; his mother and father-in-law, Pastor Norman and Mary Lou Stover of Goshen; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Paul Mehok.Friends may call Tuesday, April 15, 2003 from 5 to 8 pm at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. A funeral service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 10:30 am in the funeral home with Pastor Norman J. Stover officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in New Philadelphia. A meal will be served at Daystar Holiness Chapel following the committal.
