William E. “Big Bill” Lasche, Jr., age 64 of Kensington, Ohio, and formerly of Hightstown, NJ, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in his home following an unexpected illness.
Born on September 28, 1943 at Trenton, NJ, Bill was a son to the late William E. Lasche, Sr. and Elizabeth M. Blyman Lasche.
Bill was educated through the Hightstown School System, and in 1961 graduated from Hightstown High School. Big Bill was a real sportsman. With a gun and a fishing pole he could rule the land. He was a fishing boat captain, who loved to snag those trophy fish for his charters. He and his brother, Bob, owned an American Gasoline Station, it was there that he taught his son, Billy all he could absorb about mechanics, which allowed him to become an Engineer, Design Fabricator, Carpenter, and Mechanic, himself. Big Bill was also a lineman for the world. He traveled the country stringing electric from pole to pole bringing power to some now quite famous areas of the Western United States. Through this, Big Bill became known as “Wild Bill” by many a brother in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Helpful was not even a word to describe Big Bill as it was his life creed. He could never say “No” and was always willing to help even a stranger stranded along the road. It was the love of nature and the thrill of living from the land that brought Bill to Ohio and he enjoyed every minute of it. He loved his animals on his small farm and enjoyed tending to and living from his garden.
Big Bill is survived by a son, William “Billy” Lasche, III and his wife, Krista Lasche of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; a brother, Robert of Virginia; a sister Carol of Colorado; and his former wife and long time friend, René Quattrone-Coppoletta of New Jersey.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes there were no services and cremation care was handled through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory of New Philadelphia, Ohio.
