William J. Drumm, 79, of Wooster and formerly of Gnadenhutten and Hamilton, Ohio, died Saturday, March 24, 2007 in Westview Manor Nursing Home at Wooster.A son of the late L. Victor and Edith J. (Gutensohn) Drumm, William was born July 1, 1927 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio.He was a 1945 graduate of Gnadenhutten High School and attended The Ohio State University and later the Savings and Loan Institute.William was baptized in the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church where he later served as a trustee, sang in the choir and served on many different committees.On May 1, 1949, William married the former Marie E. Everett in Sharon Moravian Church at Tuscarawas, Ohio. Together, they raised two daughters, Kathy and Peggy.During his career, William was the president of Indian Village Savings and Loan at Gnadenhutten, Wayne Savings and Loan at Wooster and West Side Federal at Hamilton. Before his retirement, he served as the Superintendent of Savings and Loan for the State of Ohio.William was very active in civic affairs in the cities he resided in. He was past president of Rotary in Wooster where he was also named citizen of the year. While in Hamilton and Wooster, he was a member of the Presbyterian Churches where he served as a trustee, elder, choir member and various other activities. While living in Hamilton, he and Marie were parents to 10 foreign exchange students from around the world. Each girl became a part of the family for one year and became very devoted to their American father.Due to declining health, William and Marie returned to Wooster where they renewed their membership in the First Presbyterian Church.William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and was dearly loved by his many friends.He is survived by his loving wife Marie Drumm, two daughters and sons-in-laws, Kathy and Jon Buss of Columbus, Ohio and Peggy and Larry Herrick of Fairfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Andy Buss and Rachel and Matthew Herrick, one sister, Ruth Myers of Michigan and many loving nieces and nephews.Family and friend may call on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating William’s life will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church with Rev. James Collier officiating. Burial will follow in Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made in William’s honor to the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church, P.O. Box 126, Gnadenhutten, OH 44629 and/or The Building Fund at First Presbyterian Church, 621 College Avenue, Wooster, OH 44691.
