William H. Weber, 83, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, August 23, 2002, at Union Hospital. Born August 9, 1919, in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late Edward Weber and Margaret Diefenbaugh. William served as a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII, was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Attack, and earned a Bronze Star Medal.While in the Army, he learned to repair radios. After serving in the Army, he learned Television repair, and then owned and operated Quaker Radio and TV for over 25 years. William was a life member of New Philadelphia VFW post # 1445 and a member of the Pearl Harbor survivors Club. He also was a Cleveland Indians fan. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Dorothy J. Weber, of the home, whom he married November 27, 1945; a daughter, Carol A. Weber and fiancée, Carl “Dean” Miller, both of New Philadelphia; a son, William D. Weber of Green, Ohio; three grandchildren, Kimberly Menefee of New Philadelphia, Michael R. (Corinne) Weber of Strasburg, Jennifer (Mitchell) Ladrach of Dover; a great-granddaughter, Shelby Lynne Ladrach.Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, at 1:00 PM, at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Rev. James Taggart officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park where military honors will be conducted by New Philadelphia VFW Post # 1445.
