William Frederick Karl

William F. “Bill” Karl, 74, of New Philadelphia died Wednesday at Morning View Care Center following an extended illness. He was born July 9, 1930 at Dover, Ohio to the late Leo and Florence (Lab) Karl and graduated in 1949 from New Philadelphia High School.Bill was a Korean War veteran, had worked as an inspector at the former Joy Manufacturing Co., was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Philadelphia, the Tusco Rifle Club, and Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed woodworking, auto races and helping his family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Bird) whom he married July 11, 1955; daughters, Vicki (Mark) Milburn of Fredericksburg, Ohio, and Joanna (Brent) Myers of Tuscarawas; sons, Bill (Patti) Karl of New Philadelphia and Randy (Cathy) Karl of Mineral City; grandchildren, Heather and Emily Milburn, Stephanie and Hannah Myers, Julia and Samantha Karl; brothers, Robert Karl and Thomas (Judy) Karl both of New Philadelphia; and a sister, Sandie (Carl) Rufener of Dover.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death, by 2 sisters and a brother.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory with Christian Wake services at 7:45 PM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 will conduct military honors. The family suggests that Memorial donations in Bill’s memory be made to Sacred Heart Church, 139 Third St. NE New Phila., OH 44663 or Hospice of Tuscarawas Co., 201 E. Third St. Dover, OH 44622
