William E. “Bill” Williams, of Dover, faithful husband, loving father, trusted friend, and benevolent community member, entered into his heavenly reward early Friday morning at the age of 53. Born in East Liverpool, O, December 23, 1948, he was a son of the late Rev. Arthur Stanley and Vida Elizabeth Thomas Williams. Bill graduated from East Liverpool High School and attended Kent State before graduating from the Ohio State University where he studied accounting. Soon after, Bill earned the Certified Public Accountant designation. Between high school and college, he was called to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. Since moving to Dover over a decade ago, Bill has worked with all three of the Ferris auto dealerships, serving as an accountant and financial manager. With an eye toward spending time with his children, Bill got involved with programs that they took part in; He was a member and past president of the Dover Band Boosters. He gladly coached a softball and a little league team while his daughter and son went through the program. An avid Ohio State fan, he enjoyed following their sports teams. Bill’s family and friends will always remember his fondness for the game of golf, especially when he played with his foursome on the Wednesday Night Commercial Golf League at Oak Shadows. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Philadelphia. Bill will be sadly missed by his high school sweetheart and wife of 34 years, the former Jane Anderson whom he married on March 23, 1968. In addition to his wife, his family includes a daughter; Katie (Eli) Saba of New Philadelphia, a son; Jonathan Williams of the home, two sisters; Janice (Donald) Frischkorn of Cedar Rapids, IA, Myra (Greg) Lingle of Newport News, VA, three brothers; Stanley (Merry) Williams of Sarasota, FL, Thomas (Lydia) Williams of Jennison, MI, and Randall (Sandra) Williams of Cambridge, O, foster brothers, Henrich Kuehn and Ulrich Jedel. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11AM inside the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Dr. Steven R. Bailey officiating. Friends may call Monday afternoon with the family present from 3 to 7 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park with the Dover VFW Post # 3463 conducting military graveside services. Following the committal service, a meal will be served in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Those unable to attend are invited to view a memorial of Bill, express condolences to his family and sign an on-line register book by visiting the funeral home’s website. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity supporting the introduction of golf to underprivileged and disabled youth; The John Cook Family Foundation, 16399 US Route 23 South, Ashville OH 43103, or The United Methodist Mission Fund, c/o General Board of Global Ministries, 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY, 10115, a local youth booster club, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. By making a contribution, you will enable Bill’s legacy of caring to continue perpetually.
