William E. “Bill” Van Horn, 76, of Dover, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

Born in Akron, he was the son of the late Elon H. and Edith E. (Theobald) Van Horn and a 1962 graduate of Coventry High School. Following high school, Bill served in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country in Vietnam until he was honorably discharged.

Also surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth (Robert) Hill of Newcomerstown and Jennifer (Shawn) Green of Wadsworth; a son, Christopher Van Horn and his fiancé Elizabeth Lamb of Owensboro, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Andrew Hill, Kiley (Dylan) Good, Hill, Allyson Green and Joseph Green; two step-grandchildren, Kerry Green and Dani Anderson; a great grandson, Brady Good and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of twin great grandchildren, a boy and a girl.

In keeping with his wishes, Bill is to be cremated through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. The New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors during a private family celebration of Bill’s life that will be held at a later date.
