William D. “Bill” Snyder After a courageous 22-year battle with heart disease, William D. “Bill” Snyder of Baltic, went home to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, September 21, 2003. He was 72. Bill’s love for life and determination to live has been a true inspiration to many.Bill was a retired dairy farmer and school bus driver for the Garaway School District. He was a member of the Sugarcreek Free Methodist Church. Due to illness, he also retired from many church activities, including choir and vocal performances. An avid sports fan, Bill spent many hours watching and cheering on the Indians, Browns, Buckeyes and Garaway Pirates. Along with his family, many friends will also fondly remember Bill’s many lawn mower adventures.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sally Rinehart Snyder, whom he married on June 30, 1951. Surviving children include one son and three daughters, Rod (Marla) Snyder, Polly (Edgar) Raber, and Penny (Jerry) Sexton, all of Baltic, and Debbie (Don) Hubbard of Princeton, IL. One son, William “Billy” Snyder, preceded Bill in death. Sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild complete the family.Also surviving are three sisters and a brother, Viola McCormick, Esther Ladrach, Kathryn Galbreath, and Harold Snyder. In addition to his son Billy, Bill was preceded in death by six sisters, Clara Knerr, Nellie Reidenbach, Mary Yoder, Nettie Miller, Irene Zeiner and Alta Miller. Numerous nieces and nephews blessed Bill’s life as well.The funeral service will be Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 11:00 AM in the Sugarcreek Free Methodist Church, with pastors Jim and his son Dwight Mason officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Baltic. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday one hour prior to the service.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
