William “Bill” B. Parrish, 71, of New Philadelphia, died suddenly Friday, October 25, 2002. Born September 21, 1931, in Kokomo, IN, he was a son of the late Austin and Lois Sanders Parrish. Bill graduated from Kokomo High School in 1949 and attended Ohio State University until he joined the United States Marines in 1951. During his active duty, he was a member of the Marine Band, and was stationed in Quantico, VA until his discharge in 1954. Bill was a member of the Whitehall Masonic Lodge No. 761, F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, and the Aladdin Shrine, Columbus, O. Bill was a talented musician, having played many times for our community during the last five years in the big band “Recollections.” He was also a member of the Marine Corp League, Marine Corp Musicians Association, the DeLorean Club of Ohio, and a supporting member of the National Corvette Museum. Bill worked in sales and engineering for Dover Conveyor.He is survived by his wife, Bette Jane Parrish, whom he married June 10, 1983, three daughters; Holly Stell-Mantei and Cherie (Bruce) Smith, both of Sawyer, MI and Stephanie Abreu of Hudson, FL; three sons, Todd Parrish of Katy, TX, Kevin (Mary) Parrish of Tampa, FL, and Brad Parrish of Boston, MA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Marlene (Bob) McDaniel of Redding, CA; a brother, Kenneth Parrish of Kokomo, IN, and a very special cat, Miss Topaz. In addition to his parents, a daughter, Vicki Mantei, and granddaughter Morgan Stell preceded him in death.A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Parrish will be held Thursday, October 31, at 5:30 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. A meal will be served in the Geib Family Center following the service. Friends may call Wednesday, October 30, 2002 anytime after 2 PM at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with the family present from 5 to 7PM, and on Thursday from 4PM until the start of the funeral service. At a later time, cremation will be conducted locally through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
