William A. Murphy

William A. Murphy, Jr., 69, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in Amberwood Manor Nursing Home at New Philadelphia.A son of the late William A. Murphy, Sr. and the late Dorothy J. (Gowins) Zoelle, William was born March 17, 1936 at Dover, Ohio.He was a 1954 graduate of Bolivar High School and was a self-employed carpenter.William was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. and he enjoyed gardening. William was proud of his Irish heritage and he enjoyed the fact that his birthday fell on St. Patrick’s Day.He is survived by four children, William D. (Sally) Murphy, Karen (James) Smith, Melanie (Carl) Von Allman and Maggie (Mike) Gilland all of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamin Smith, Ryan and Sean Rufener and Carl Von Allman III; and three sisters, Betty Lanzer of Stone Creek, Judy Van Meter of Port Washington and Pam (Harry) Metcalf-Myers of New Philadelphia.William was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Gregory Von Allman and two brothers, James Murphy and Michael Zoelle. There will be no public visitation or services observed and cremation will take place in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
