Wilbur L. Souers, Jr., 86, of Zoarville, went to be with The Lord, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in the care of Community Hospice at New Philadelphia.
A son of the late Wilbur L. and Helen (Snyder) Souers, Wilbur was born December 7, 1930 at Akron, Ohio.
Wilbur served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He worked for the Akron Water Department and then retired from Hercules Engines Inc. He then worked at Quality Sew & Vac as a hobby after retirement.
Wilbur spent his life loving and meeting the needs of his family and teaching them strong work ethics and the importance of giving yourself to others.
He is survived by the only love of his life, his wife, Janet L. (Potts) Souers, whom he married December 23, 1953; 4 children, Kevin (Lori) Souers of Elyria, Renee (Robert) Bailey of Seagrove, North Carolina, Kelly (Troy) Bichsel of Dover, and Chad (Stephanie) Souers of Mineral City; 13 grandchildren, Elliott, Eliza, Emily, Ethan, Matthew, Amanda, Chelsea, Sierra, Joshua, Elliana, Madeline, Maci and Landon; 4 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Felicity, Gunnison and Sophia; 2 sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Crabtree and Sherri (Dave) Frahlich; brother-in-law, Robert Potts and sister-in-law, Patricia Simms.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Marie and his grandson, Zachary Ryan.
In keeping with the family’s wishes there will be no public calling hours or services and cremation care will be handled through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
