Warren E. Fox

September 29, 1920 — August 16, 2006

Warren E. Fox, age 85, of Tuscarawas, died Wednesday afternoon, August 16, 2006 in Union Hospital at Dover. Born at Akron Ohio, September 29, 1920, Warren was the only son of the late Ralph James Fox and Winona Ricer Fox. When he was six years old, Warren and his parents moved to Woodsfield, Ohio where they lived on a farm. Warren attended high school at nearby Antioch, Ohio, where he met and fell in love with his wife, the former Wandalea C. Briggs. The couple wed May 24, 1941. For the next ten years, Warren worked for the county and at a gas station in Woodsfield until 1951. Mr. Fox and his family then moved to Tuscarawas, the village he would call home for the next fifty-six years. He retired in 1983 from East Ohio Gas, where Warren worked for the past three decades as a chart reader on the company’s rural gas lines that run through the region. Warren played baseball both as a young man, and also for several teams in adult leagues throughout Tuscarawas County. Additionally, he played his guitar two or three times a week at home and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. Warren was also a fan of car racing. Warren and Wandalea spent fifty-four years together until her death in 1995. Together, they reared a family that includes two daughters, Patty and husband Homer Roth of Tuscarawas, and Phyllis and husband Ralph Lucarielli of Bowerston, and a son, Larry Fox and his companion Mary Ann Pica of Uhrichsville. He’ll be sadly missed by his special friend Evelyn Nill of Dover, as well as seven grandchildren, Justin Fox, Shelley and husband John Ricutti, Tawnya and husband Mike Youmans, Steve Roth, Mike and wife Laurie Roth, Ralph P. and wife Crissy Lucarielli, and Melonie D. Chace. Thirteen great-grandchildren complete the family. Friends are invited to call Saturday, August 19, from 6 until 9 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Glen Shedlock will lead funeral services Sunday afternoon, August 20, at 2 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery at Tuscarawas. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
