Wanda Sattoria Cookson, 90, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2010 in the Cleveland Clinic following an unexpected illness.A daughter of the late Cloyd and Elnor (Stevens) Crawford, Wanda was born July 20, 1920 at Uhrichsville.Wanda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Uhrichsville and was formerly employed as the Deli Manager at the former Stoll’s Grocery Store at Uhrichsville.She was an excellent homemaker and especially enjoyed cooking. Wanda kept her mind sharp by reading and completing crossword puzzles on a daily basis. Wanda spent the last 16 years of her life with her loving husband, John W. Cookson and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.Her absolute favorite hobby was decorating with incredible taste, style and love. She created a beautiful home enjoyed by her second family that includes; John A. (Judy) Cookson, Brenda (Bob) Cookson Henning, Valerie (Skip) Cookson-Gustin, Annette (T.D) Cookson Hirning, Mark (Brenda) Cookson and Mike (Jennifer) Cookson; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jide; her son, Terry Sattoria and a grandson Andre Barnett.Wanda was generous, kind and full of joy. She will be truly missed by many special friends. She will always be remembered for her flair for fashion but mostly for her unlimited love and kindness.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Wanda’s life will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Dennison. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
