Wanda Ruth Roby, 77, of Sherrodsville, died Sunday, July 22, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover.Born October 20, 1929 in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Maudee Mae (Plotner) Tompkins. After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1947, she spent a brief period of time working at the Timken Company. There, she met and fell in love with her husband, Willard Roby, who survives. In 1955, the two went to Cleveland where they were married.Her life was devoted to raising her three sons, spending time with her grandchildren, and being a wonderful companion to her husband. Together with Willard, she traveled throughout the United States in their trailor, camping along the way. They also enjoyed many years in Florida where they lived in the winter months. She was a member of First Assembly of God in New Philadelphia.. Along with Willard, Wanda is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey Lynn (Carla) Roby of Canton, George Steven (Sandy) Roby of Sherrodsville, and Willard James Roby, Jr.; her brother, Tom (Linda) Tompkins of North Carolina; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Ferron and June Roach.Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 25 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A service celebrating Wanda’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Family and friend are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home in New Philadelphia where a luncheon will be served following the committal service.
