Wanda Grace Lemasters, age 82, of New Philadelphia, Ohio died late Thursday, December 8, 2011, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a period of declining health.Child number 12 of 16 born to the late William A. and Ida (Owens) Forrester, Wanda was born at Greenwood, West Virginia on June 25, 1929.She attended Salem High School at Salem, West Virginia and married the love of her life, Edman C. Lemasters on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1948; and as a couple they reared a daughter and son.Wanda spent a majority of her life as a devoted care giver to her family. She greatly enjoyed the time spent with each member of her extended family and as her immediate family grew, she looked forward to time spent with her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed making clothing and other wares. Wanda was an avid reader who also appreciated craft work and floral arranging.Upon Ed’s retirement, the couple began camping at Atwood Lake and made many friends during this time. They eventually decided that relocating to the Tuscarawas Valley was a good idea and have made New Philadelphia their home for the past 15 years.In addition to her husband of 63 years, Wanda will be missed by her daughter, Meredith Lynn (Mac) McCaskey of New Martinsville, West Virginia; a son, Mark D. (Laura) Lemasters of Winchester, Virginia; and three sisters, Helen Fike, Winona Gain both of Grafton, West Virginia, and Kay Colonie of Latrobe, Pennsylvania.Four grandchildren, Alicia (Rick) Hissom and Amy Petin all of New Martinsville, West Virginia; Rory S. Lemasters of Virginia and Keirsten Lemasters of Floria; three great-grandchildren, Brantley Hissom, Brennan Petin, and Kenna Pettin as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by four brothers and eight sisters.Cremation will be conducted through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover, Ohio. In keeping with Wanda’s wishes, an open house celebrating Wanda’s life will be held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Mac McCaskey, 253 Duerr Street, New Martinsville, West Virginia 26155, on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 begining at 2:00 PM.The family request memorial contributions in Wanda’s name be directed to the Tuscarawas County Public Library, 121 Fair Avenue NW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
