W. Kathryn Arnold

W. Kathryn “Katie” Arnold, age 77, of New Philadelphia, died Christmas morning in Union Hospital following a brief illness. Born at New Philadelphia July 9, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Robert A. and Sylvia B. Bartholomew Raiff.Katie was a 1945 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, and was a past member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker most of her life, and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, word jumbles, and visiting with her many grand-dogs and grand-cats. On September 7, 1946, she married James B. Arnold. The couple spent 44 year together before his death in January, 1991. Together, they raised a family that includes J. Steven (Janie) Arnold of New Philadelphia, Robert E. (Debbie) Arnold of New Philadelphia, Douglas J. (Susan) Arnold of Port Washington and Patricia S. (Gordon) Hall of New Philadelphia. Survivors also include seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother, Robert S. Raiff, in addition to her parents and husband, preceded her in death. Friends are invited to call Tuesday afternoon from 4PM until 6PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Michael E. Walters will lead a funeral service for Mrs. Arnold Wednesday morning at 10:30AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. After the committal service, the family will host a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association 4815 Munson St. N.W. Canton, OH 44718 or the Arthritis Association 4767 Higbee Avenue NW, Canton, OH 44718, in lieu of flowers, are encouraged.
