W. Gracann Chipukaizer, 83, of New Philadelphia passed away Monday evening, November 23, 2015 in Amberwood Manor following a period of declining health.
Born in Jewett on January 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John H. Fogle and Pauline and Paul (Stewart) Mellinger.
Gracann was a member of the Scio Methodist Church, the Bethlehem Walk, the Elevian Club, and the Junior Women’s Club in Scio. She was also a talented singer where she was a solo finalist for the state competition.
In her earlier years, she was a pioneer in radio working as a WJER Radio personality and at a Canton radio station. Gracann was a school secretary in Scio and the secretary for her late husband, James Chipukaizer.
Gracann’s family includes her son, Paul (Maureen) Baker of New Philadelphia; her brother, Don (Carol) Fogle of Hopedale; her grandchildren, Michelle, Natalie, Kyle, and Heather; 11 great-grandchildren; her nephew, Zachary Bloomfield of Plainfield, Illinois; her cousin, Betty Bresseur of New Philadelphia; and her former husband, Hobert Baker of Tuscarawas.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kay; her infant daughter, Victoria Lynn; her great-grandchild, Peyton Armstrong; and her brother, John C. Fogle.
Cremation care will be conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Gracann’s family wants to express their sincere gratitude to Community Hospice and Amberwood Manor for the care and love they showed her.
