Vivian E. Sickafoose, 96, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully August 26, 2017 in Park Village South at New Philadelphia.
Born in East Canton on March 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Milton Glenn and Helen Grace (Gearhart) Plympton.
After graduating in 1939 from Malvern High School, she married her late husband, Nilan “Nick” Sickafoose on March 10, 1945 in the First Christian Church in Canton. He preceded her in passing on June 11, 2000.
Vivian was a secretary of patients’ accounts at Union Hospital until her retirement in 1979.
She enjoyed her memberships with the Pallet Club, the Tuscarawas County Art Guild, and the Writer’s Guild. She was also active at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.
She will be deeply missed by her children including Alan (Jessica) Sickafoose of New Philadelphia; Daryl (Joyce) Sickafoose of Arcadia, Florida, and Gary (Jayne) Sickafoose of Burton, Ohio; her sister, Emily Jean Hummel; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Plympton and Carol Plympton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and one expected in October.
In addition to her parents and husband, Vivian was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Carpenter; her brothers, Donald “Bud” and Foster “Guy” Plympton; and her grandson, John.
Pastor Larry Hostetler will officiate a memorial service in the Uhrichsville Christian Temple on Saturday, September 9, 2017 beginning at 11 a.m. Inurnment will take place at Melscheimer Cemetery in Pike Township following the service.
Memorial contributions in Vivian’s memory may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
