Virginia G. McClelland, age 95, of New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover, died early, Thursday morning, January 19, 2012, following a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.A daughter of the late Ernest and Gaile Major Trimmer, Ginny, as she was known to family and friends was born on August 28, 1916 at Henrysburg, Ohio.She attended New Philadelphia High School and married the love her life, Raymond W. McClelland on October 2, 1937. The couple reared two children and shared in 42 years of marriage prior to Raymond’s passing on April 7, 1980.Ginny spent a majority of her life caring for her family and was known as a great baker. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling and being a member of area card clubs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia and was also one of the first Grey Ladies at Union Hospital and a member of the Child Conservation League.She is survived by two children, Sharon (Jerry) Haswell of Strasburg and Sam (Susan) McClelland of Midlothian, Virgina; and a brother, Jack Trimmer of Canton.Five grandchildren, Timothy (Carol) Haswell, Gaile (Craig) Romine, Raymond (Kim) Haswell, Stephanie (David) Goode and Steven (Elizabeth) McClelland; eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Ginny was preceded in death by a brother, Major Trimmer; two sisters, Marjorie McClelland and Martha Bedlion; a granddaughter, Shannon, and a great-grandson, Anthony.A private service will be led by Pastor Lynda Masters in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with burial following in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.The family requests memorial contributions in Ginny’s name be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Chapter 70 W. Streetsboro St. Suite 201, Hudson OH US 44236.
