Virginia E. Pearson

November 17, 1914 — December 24, 2003

Virginia E. Pearson, age 89, of Sherrodsville, and Dennison, died peacefully under the care of Hospice at Union Hospital in Dover on Christmas Eve, following a brief illness.Born in Corry, Pennsylvania, she was the only daughter of the late Harry Alton Davis and Edna Mary Hagrich Davis. Mrs. Pearson attended school in Corry, PA, and Philadelphia, PA, before she became a student at The Andrews School for Women in Willoughby, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Edinboro State Teachers College in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. She taught in Pennsylvania for a few years prior to bringing her artistic ability to Dover City Schools where she taught and later supervised the Art Department within the school system. She ultimately retired from her career in education as a member of the faculty in the Maple Heights, Ohio, school district. She was heavily involved in activities at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center at Dover, The Palette Club (a local art organization) and was a pink lady volunteer at Union Hospital. In addition to her talent as an artist, Mrs. Pearson loved to dance and sing. Her presence on earth will be missed by all who knew her, especially by her two daughters, Pat (Richard) McCoy of Sherrodsville, and Lyn Austin of Jeffersonville, Vermont; grandchildren Brent McCoy of Westerville, Oh, Tal (Donna) McCoy of Dover, Heidi (Craig) Huey of Bromfield Colorado, Peter Austin of Jeffersonville, Vt.; three great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon McCoy of Fairfax, VA, and Maia Austin of Jeffersonville, Vt.; a brother, Everett Davis of Morrisville, Vermont; and all of her friends at Northview in Dennison. Cremation will be conducted locally under the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia. There are no calling hours or public services. A private family service celebrating Virginia’s life has been scheduled for the summer of 2004. In gratitude for their exemplary care, the family encourages memorial contributions to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201, West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
