Virginia C. Slutz

Virginia C. Slutz, age 89, of Newcomerstown and formerly of New Philadelphia, fell asleep in death on Thursday, October 27, 2011.Born on July 28, 1922, in Franklin Pennsylvania, Virginia was the daughter of the late Stanley and Dora Buczek. Mrs. Slutz retired in 1987 from Ohio County Schools in Wheeling, WV where she worked as a handicapped bus aide and as a special education aide. She then spent the majority of her time with the volunteer ministry work as an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1971. It was her greatest joy to share her faith and hope with others. A scripture she often shared was Psalm 37: 9 and 11, “Â?But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.” “Â?And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.” Virginia especially enjoyed her grandchildren like a light in her life. Her other interests included reading, sewing, being a homemaker and feeding the birds and squirrels. She was known for her warm smile, kind nature and generosity.She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Benjamin) Wincek of New Philadelphia, Susan Mangus of Texas; two sons, David (Eunice) Slutz of Miami, Florida and Richard (Vicki) Slutz of Canfield, Ohio; and a sister, Mary Jean Steger of Vancouver, Washington.Completing the family are six grandchildren, Sarah Slutz, Jonothan Slutz, Michael Mangus, Brian Mangus, Emily Wincek, and Julia Wincek; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Mangus , Alexis Mangus and Ethan Mangus as well as two nieces and one nephew.In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Kite and two brothers, Leon Buczek and Thomas Buczek.Cremation care has been conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. Mr. James Duggan will lead Virginia’s Memorial Service on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 3PM in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1212 Kelly Avenue NW, New Philadelphia. Following the memorial service, a reception will be shared in the Geib Funeral Center at New Philadelphia.
