Virginia A. Cheslock, 86, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at New Dawn Health Care & Retirement Center in Dover. Born November 22, 1915, in Sherrodsville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harry R. and Rose Ann Minnick Gamble. Virginia graduated as Valedictorian of Sherrodsville High School. She was a homemaker and she worked as a banquet hostess for the Atwood Lodge. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Senior Citizens and Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens. Virginia loved gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed going to dances, reading and shopping.Surviving is a daughter, Vickie A. Timmerman of New Philadelphia; a sister, Mary (Ralph) Gartrell of New Philadelphia, two brothers, Earl Gamble of Beach City and Harry Gamble of Brewster; Granddaughter, Bambi (Charles) Carper of New Philadelphia; grandson, Robert F. (Cindy) Timmerman of New Philadelphia; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Rachelle Daley and Chelsae and Hillary Timmerman.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Cheslock who died January 15, 1991; by three sisters, Rose Phillips, Katherine Merrick, Dorothy NorrisCalling hours will be held Friday October 11, 2002, from 6-8 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. There will be a Christian Wake Service Friday at 7:30 PM. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, October 12, at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Msgr. George Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
