Violet Effie Frey, age 84, of Dover, died early Monday morning, February 21, 2005, in Morning View Care Center, where she had resided since March, 2000.Born in Canada July 23, 1920, Violet was a daughter of the late Edward and Genevine Saxauer Phillabaum. She grew up in Berlin Township in Holmes County and in the Dundee area of Tuscarawas County. As a young lady, she attended school in Berlin Township.Violet married Richard E. Frey on June 11, 1941. Violet and Richard resided in the Dover area and enjoyed many years of camping at Clendening Lake with her brother Alvin, and their many friends. Violet and Richard were members of the Dover Moose, Dover Eagles and the Dover VFW.Patrons of the Dover Eagles Club will remember Violet as a waitress there for more than three decades where she was also a member of the ladies auxiliary. She had also been an employee of Belmont Stamping and Enameling for a number of years. Survivors include nephews Lawrence Lee and Ronald Dean Phillabaum of Dundee and Larry Phillabaum of Dover. In addition to her parents, and Violet’s husband, Richard, who died May 4, 1986, she is preceded in death by three brothers; Alvin, John, and Lloyd Phillabaum. Friends are invited to call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 North Wooster Avenue at Dover where the Rev. Hugh Berry will officiate Mrs. Frey’s funeral ceremony Thursday morning, February 24, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
