Viola Suzanna Hicks

Viola Suzanna Hicks, 67, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia.

A daughter of the late Elmer and Freda (Szeles) Keffer, Viola was born on November 9, 1940 at Dover, Ohio.

She graduated from Stone Creek High School in 1958. Viola then attended beauty school and remained a licensed beautician until her death. Over the years, Viola had worked at the Lawson’s Convenience Store at New Philadelphia and the L & K Restaurant at Dover. Viola was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and was a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County. She dearly loved her family and cherished her friends.

She is survived by her son, William A. Hicks and her grandson, William J. Hicks both of Canton, Ohio and a great grandson, Anthoni L. Hicks of New Philadelphia.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar W. Hicks in 1982; a brother, Elmer Keffer, Jr.: and a sister, Judith Keffer.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 2 to 3 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Viola’s life will follow at 3 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Houdashelt officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
