Viola M. Menapace, 84, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, in her home surrounded by family on Thursday, March 15, 2018.
Born in New Cumberland, Ohio on May 24, 1933, Viola was a daughter of the late Wiley and Anna (Sindledecker) Briggs, and a 1952 graduate of Dover High School.
She was employed as an aide by various healthcare facilities and was well known as an in-home child-care provider. Viola also loved working in her flower gardens and tending to plants. Above all she was a wonderful caregiver to her family.
Viola is survived by her children, Judy (Jeff) Arter of Miami, Florida, Janet (Eric) Bauer of Kernersville, North Carolina, Joyce (Ned) Lengler of Strasburg, Jason (Leslie) Menapace of Cape Coral, Florida, and Jacque Menapace of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Jessica Arter, Chad (Jessi) Thomas, Casey Nichols, Thad (Valerie Lindamood) Lengler, Rhianna Menapace, Jacob Menapace, Jami Menapace, and Justin (Danielle McKinney) Menapace; great-grandchildren, Kyra and Karsyn Garbrandt, Ethan Nichols, Jacey, Cavyn, and Brityn Thomas, Jayden Lippencott, and Braylen and Adeline Menapace; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by a sister, Dessie Huff; and her brothers, Willard, Melvin, James, Ray and Clifford Briggs.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 2-4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Brian Flood will lead a service celebrating Viola’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, March 19, at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
