Viola Fay Robin, age 87, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in her residence following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Fred A. and Susie J. (Stevens) Fairbee, Viola was born at Middlebourne, West Virginia on July 27, 1926.
She attended Tyler County Schools at West Virginia and later relocated to Stark County where she met the love of her life, Lewis R. Robin. The couple married on February 29, 1944 and reared 11 children. They celebrated 66 years of marriage prior to his death on March 22, 2010.
Viola worked for a number of Canton area dry cleaners and once married moved back to Middlebourne, West Virginia where she raised many of her children and tended to the family farm. She loved playing Bingo, traveling throughout the United States and especially enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Reno and Wheeling Island.
Viola will be missed by four daughters; Shirley (Dean) Ady of Texas, Barbara Robin of New Philadelphia, Linda Miller of Texas, and Connie (Joe) Pattison, of South Carolina; six sons, Ronnie (Debbie) Robin, Donnie (Virginia) Robin all of Texas, Lonnie (Linda) Robin, Kenneth (Kathy) Robin all of New Philadelphia, Gary (Holly) Robin of Dennison, and Roger (Carlie) Robin of Uhrichsville; three brothers, Carl, Paul and Charles, and four sisters, Nina, Louise, Betty, and Elizabeth.
Thirty-seven grandchildren as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Stein; a grandson, Rick Hicks; two brothers, Donnie and Walter and two sisters, Naomi and Carol.
The family will receive guests on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Hugh Berry will lead a service celebrating Viola’s life on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following services, all are invited to join the family for a meal and fellowship in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center.
