Viola Bell Walton

Viola Bell Walton, age 81, a lifelong resident of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a brief illness.A daughter of the late Charles and Almeda Dawson Reynolds, Vi, as she was known to family and friends, was born at Goshen on May 3, 1929.She attended Goshen School and on December 17, 1953, she married Homer A. Walton. Together the couple would raise five children and share in more than 20 years of marriage prior to his passing on December 4, 1975.Vi was a homemaker and loved caring for her family. She found great joy in cleaning her house and making sure not only the inside was well cared for, but spent a great deal of time tending to her outside chores as well. Additionally, Vi enjoyed caring for stray cats, but once they came around, she usually ended up adopting them as her own. In her younger years, Vi enjoyed country music and spending free nights attending local dances.Vi will be missed by her five daughters, Linda (Ralph) Harbaugh, Pat Sommers, Evelyn Walton, Kathy (Randy) Zagorec all of New Philadelphia and Luenetta (Jeremiah) Page of Uhrichsville. Four brothers, three sisters, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.In addition to her parents and husband, Homer, Vi was preceded in death by a son, Donny Walton; her long-time companion, William Medley, a great-grandson, Dylan Sommers; two brothers, three sisters, and her beloved cat, Crazy Baby.The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 9:30 â?? 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
