Vinetta R Bedey

January 21, 1919 — February 9, 2014

Vinetta R. “Sue” Bedey, 95, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was a resident of the Country Club Retirement Campus.

Born in New Philadelphia on January 21, 1919 She was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Edna (Owens) Sweany. Sue graduated from New Philadelphia High School, where she was the art editor of the school newspaper her senior year. She then continued her formal education at Protestant Hospital School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee.

On August 31, 1946, Sue married her lifelong companion and friend Frank Bedey.

Her professional career began in Cleveland where she worked for several hospitals. She was the night supervisor at Booth Memorial Hospital until she and her husband purchased a Toledo-based nursing home. After operating it for 5 years, they leased it out in 1951 and moved to New Philadelphia.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and kept her registration as an RN.

Sue is survived by her son, Richard F. Bedey of Nashville, IN; a daughter-in-law, Christine (Tina) Bedey also of Nashville; a nephew, David Sweany of Talbott, TN; and a niece, nephew, and several cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Sue and brother, Harold.

Private viewing for friends and family will be at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 9:50 AM with Graveside services following at 10:00 AM at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
