Vincent Marion Coniglio, Jr., age 76, of New Philadelphia, passed away late Thursday afternoon, April 15, 2010, following a six month stay in New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover. Born at Dover, February 16, 1934, he was a son of the late Vincent M. and Anna Butera Coniglio, Sr. Best known as Vince to his family and friends, he attended St. Joseph School at Dover before enlisting in the United States Navy. Two years prior to joining the military, on June 4, 1953, Vince married the former Romaine Steinbaugh Â? and would observe fifty-six anniversaries together. He’ll be remembered as a hard worker, having spent twenty years working with the former Custom Coaters, and twenty more years with Simon Duplex before retiring.Together with his wife, Vince was active for many years in the Tuscarawas County Italian-American Festival, helping his wife organize the Mayor’s breakfast. A member at St. Joseph Catholic Church, he attended both Mass at Sacred Heart and services with his wife, at the Community of Christ Church. Vince was also a member of the Dover VFW Post 3463. Survivors in addition to his wife, include two sons; Vincent M. Coniglio, III, of New Philadelphia, and James (girlfriend, Kimberly Clark) Coniglio, of Mentor, one granddaughter; Jennifer Coniglio and two great-grandchildren; Blake and Jayli Lanzer, all of New Philadelphia. A sister, Ann Simmers, two sisters-in-law; Karen (husband, Ken) Cook and Kay (husband, Ray) Rees, all of New Philadelphia, and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family. Vincent is preceded in death by his brother Anthony Coniglio, and his brother in law; Homer Simmers. Friends are invited to call Sunday afternoon from 1PM-3PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Teacher Kay Rees of Christ Community Church and Monsignor George J. Schlegel of Sacred Heart Church will lead a funeral service for Vince Sunday afternoon at 3PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Members of the Dover VFW funeral detail will provide military honors at the funeral home following the service. Private burial in Evergreen Burial Park is planned. Following the military service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
