Vickie Ann Stocksdale, 61, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday morning, in the company of her family, in her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 8, 1942 in Dover, she was a daughter of Mary Jane Ripple Stocksdale and the late Russell Elisha Stocksdale. Vickie graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1961 and attended Kent State University. Her career spanned more than 37 years at Union Hospital, where she worked in the radiology department. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.A talented artist, she loved working with her hands to make crafts, or cultivating soil and seed to grow a beautiful flower garden. The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County, and the people involved in its productions were near to her heart. In addition to holding a position on LT’s board of directors, Vickie worked tirelessly before each production perfecting stage lighting. Recently, she was inducted into the Marquee Club, in recognition her contributions to the organization.In addition to her mother, she is survived by a sister, Rebecca (Benjamin) Townsend, of Connecticut; nieces Sarah Pomposello of Connecticut, Rachel Townsend of Montana, and Elizabeth Townsend of Connecticut.Cremation has taken place locally under the care and direction of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory. Rev. Glen Shedlock will lead a celebration of Vickie’s life Monday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home’s Chapel. A reception will follow the ceremony in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Friends may call with the family present one hour prior to services.
