Vera Naomi Snyder Crescio, age 85 of New Philadelphia, died peacefully late Tuesday evening, January 3, 2006 in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia. Born at Shanesville, Ohio, March 31, 1920, Vera was a daughter of the late Walter and Olga Eletta Zeigler Millhorn. Vera will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed family get-togethers, baking Christmas cookies Â? which often numbered into the thousands, which she then gave as gifts. Vera also enjoyed walking and watching high school band performances. Survivors include three daughters; Vada Schneiter, Mary (Chet) Schlegel and Rhonda (Mark) Karl all of New Philadelphia, a son; Terry (Pat) Crescio of Dover, a brother; Maurice (Helen) Maurer of New Philadelphia, seven grandchildren; Monty Schneiter of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Robin Schneiter of Clearwater, Florida, Jay Schneiter of Canton, Ohio, Lori (Scott) Urfer of Mountain Home, Idaho, Wendi Iberg, Michelle Crescio and Amanda Karl, all of New Philadelphia, three great-grandchildren and special friends Cheryl, Bill and Christie Graham of New Philadelphia. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands; Alfred Snyder and Louis Crescio, and a daughter, Minnie P. Cox in 1961. Friends are invited to call Friday afternoon from 4 until 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Christian wake services will commence at 7PM. The Monsignor George J. Schlegel will lead funeral services Saturday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Vera spent many hours in the company of the late Chip Graham, as a babysitter, caregiver and friend. In recognition of their friendship the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Chip Graham Memorial Fund in care of the New Philadelphia Quaker Foundation, 343 Ray Avenue NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
