Velda M. Kistner, age 89, of Dover, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover.A daughter of the late Christopher, “C.J.” and Lela (Martin) DeVore, Velda was born in the family home at Dover on November 23, 1920.On September 15, 1964, Velda married Edward Kistner and celebrated more than twenty years of marriage prior to his passing on October 1, 1985.For a number of years Velda worked as a cook for the former Chuck’s Chicken and would later work for Snyder Manufacturing, Kinser Bowling Alley and provide private residence housekeeping to a number of area homes.Velda was a longtime member of First Christian Church at Dover and enjoyed Bingo.She will be missed by her family which includes a son, Rick (Sandra) Engler of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Donna DeSerio of Uhrichsville; five grandchildren, Troy Cordray, Corrina DeSerio, Richard Engler, Douglas Engler, and Jenny Engler and four great-grandchildren, Kaylenna Engler, Courtney Best, Byron Best, and June Best.In addition to her parents and husband, Ed, Velda was preceded in death by her former husband, Donald Engler; two brothers, Eldon DeVore and Wilbur “Dutch” DeVore; a grandson, Chad Thompson; and a great-granddaughter, Ambreonna Engler.In keeping with Velda’s wishes there will be no public services. Cremation will be conducted through Geib’s Tuscaraws Valley Crematory at Dover. A private inurnment will take place in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.Those wishing to do so may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.Memorial contributions in Velda’s name may be directed to First Christian Church of Dover, 3029, N.
