V. Jean Daugherty

V. Jean Daugherty, age 61, of Dover, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Union Hospital following a brief illness.

A daughter of Vivian Mae Porter of Dover and the late James Porter, Jean was born on September 22, 1956 in Twin City Hospital at Dennison.

She attended school at Indian Valley and spent several years working for Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover as a Housekeeping Supervisor. She later served as a nursing aide at Oak Point Nursing and Rehab at Baltic.

Jean enjoyed gathering with her family and watching NASCAR and football on Sunday afternoon and rarely missed an episode of Judge Judy. She also enjoyed fishing.

In addition to her mother, Jean is survived by her siblings, Jackie Gerber of Cleveland, Ross (Debbie Frizzell) Porter of Newcomerstown, and Jim (Madeline Layne) Porter of Alliance; her companion, Frank Layne of Dover; her former husband, Mike Daugherty and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Jean’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services. Cremation care will be conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
