Ula Nell Mako, 82, of New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover following several months of illness.Ula was born January 15, 1923 in Bloomingburg, Fayette County, Ohio to the late Carlton Wayne Davey and Alice (Straley) Davey. She enjoyed her childhood growing up with very loving parents and two brothers, Ned of Springfield, Ohio and Glen who passed away in 1976. Ula often spoke of her wonderful cousins, aunts and uncle as well.Ula was a graduate of The Springfield City Hospital School of Nursing and in October of 1946, she married John Mako. Together, Ula and John raised two sons, Rick and Rand.She lived most of her life in Bay Village, Ohio while practicing nursing. In 1982, she then moved to Tuscarawas County to be near her family. Ula will be remembered by her family as a devoted mother and grandmother.Ula had an extraordinary passion for corresponding to her many life long friends and maintained mail contact as a valuable and important part of her day.Ula is survived by two sons, Rick (Jo) Mako of New Philadelphia and Rand (Leslie) Mako of Carol Stream, Illinois; four grandchildren, Laura, John, Marissa and Chase Mako; and one brother, Ned (Norma Jean) Davey of Springfield, Ohio.In keeping with Ula’s wishes, cremation will take place at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia and a memorial service for her family will be held in the spring.In memory of Ula, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
