Trudy L. Sullivan, age 71, of New Philadelphia died peacefully, following a brief illness, Friday, January 5, 2024, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born on January 30, 1952, in Union Hospital at Dover, Trudy was a daughter of the late John and Clara Andreatta Swinderman.

Trudy was a 1971 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on August 19, 1972, married her best friend and husband of 51 years, Fred Sullivan. Together the couple had two daughters and countless family adventures.

Trudy loved her family and enjoyed being with them at family dinners, which she prepared frequently. She also enjoyed vacationing at Myrtle Beach, making others laugh and giggle, shopping, and most of all showing her loving and compassionate heart to all who knew her.

When New Towne Mall opened in 1989, Trudy began working at the Sears store, and then Phar-Mor, and later settled in at Elder Beerman where she worked in the shoe department for 16 years, and ultimately retired from Lavender Bridal.

In addition to her husband, Trudy is survived by two daughters, Lori (Rob) Henning of New Philadelphia and Ellie (G.A.) Wentz of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Nick and Vinnie Henning and Ethan and Juliana Wentz; her brother, Floyd (Dalene) Swinderman of New Philadelphia, Pat (Cliff) Nickerson of Columbus, her nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by a sister, Coreen Abel.

In keeping with Trudy’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.

The family requests memorial contributions in Trudy’s name be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or online at https://www.myhospice.org/options-giving.
