Tommy "Bird" Conner

Tommy Lynn “Bird” Conner, age 66, of New Philadelphia passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, in his home after a period of declining health.

Born in Dover, Ohio on September 30, 1956, he was the son of the late Harry Conner and Francis (Pyle) Smitley.

Tommy worked hard all his life.  He was an owner and operator truck driver.  He was known as a generous man who often gave of his time and resources to many local needs.  In his free time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and baseball.  Tommy also had a passion for CB radios.  He was known to the CB and trucking community as “Bird”.

Tommy is survived by his sons, Chris (Rachelle) Conner of Abbeville, South Carolina, and Nick (Elizabeth) Conner of New Philadelphia; daughter, Corrine (Ken) Linkous; grandchildren, Emilee, Kyonna, Logan, Mason, Christian, Hunter, Rian, Xavier, and Grayson; sister, Beverly Nichols; former wife and friend, Cathy Conner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Chad Cercone; long-time companion, Mary Pierce; brothers, Bobby Conner, Ted Conner, and Tim Conner; and sisters, Dorothy Arndt, and Kathie Barker.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory in New Philadelphia.  A service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:30AM in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
