Timothy R. “Pete” Peters

Timothy R. “Pete” Peters, 75, of New Philadelphia, passed away July 24, 2021 following a period of declining health.

Born in Dennison on June 19, 1946, he was the son of the late Robert George Peters and Wilma Theresa (Russell) Bertolini.

After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, Pete honorably served our country in the United States Air Force before returning to the community and continuing his public service as a New Philadelphia Police Officer.

On July 8, 1984, Pete married the former Frances Ann “Francie” Grasselli. Together, they were members of Sacred Heart Church. Pete was also a member of the Tuscora Lodge #4 Fraternal Order of Police.

In addition to Francie, Pete is survived by his children, Sandra (Gregory) Geib of New Philadelphia, Patty (Brian) Wertz of Sommerdale, and Michael (Terri) Peters of Dover; his step-son, John Kee of New Philadelphia; his siblings, Mariann Moneymaker and Jeff (Dottie) Peters, both of Uhrichsville; his caretaker, Karen Grimm; and grandchildren, Logan (Lauren) and Zachary (Bre) Geib, Caden and Kolton Wertz, Riley and Ryan Peters, and Tabitha Kee; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Bill Dine; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph (Nancy) Grasselli, John Grasselli, Betty (Robert) Cross, and Carolyn Grasselli.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Linwood “Lew” Moneymaker, Sr.; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. An F.O.P service will commence at 6:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Tom Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery where the New Phila VFW Post #1445 will render military honors.
