Timothy Claude Sweet, 79, of Bolivar, died suddenly on Monday, October 29, 2007 at his home.A son of the late Claude and Ruth (Otis) Sweet, Timothy was born October 31, 1927 at Gabriels, New York. Timothy was the manager of the former United Department Store at Uhrichsville for 28 years an later retired from the Family Dollar Store. He had a passion for sports, especially baseball and golf. In his younger years, Timothy was a player/manager for the semi-professional baseball team, the Brighton Blues, which was located in upstate New York. At one time, he served as the president of Dennison Little League and was an avid golfer which he enjoyed playing at Big Bend Golf Course at Uhrichsville. Most of all, Timothy cherished his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. He is survived by his children, Michael (Annette) Sweet of Bolivar, Wayne Sweet and Julie Richards both of North Carolina and his grandchildren, Brandon and Rachel Sweet. Timothy was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Ruby (Farmer) Sweet who passed away on November 24, 1999; one brother, Wayne Sweet and two sisters, Isabel Callahan and Pearl Sweet. Family and friends may call on Thursday, November 1, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Timothy’s life will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Father Edward Keck officiating.
