Timothy B. Llewellyn

August 15, 1946 — March 18, 2010

Timothy B. Llewellyn, age 63, of New Philadelphia, passed away March 18, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover following an illness of six months. Born at Dover, August 15, 1946, he was a son of Jack E. and Betty (Vogel) Llewellyn.A 1964 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Tim served his country as a member of the Ohio Army National Guard before joining his father in the operation of Llewellyn’s Business Machines on the southeast corner of Five Points at New Philadelphia. His brothers joined the partnership as they graduated from high school, and together they serviced typewriters in many schools throughout the Tuscarawas Valley. Tim was always interested in old things and working on motors. He restored Whizzer Motor Bikes and a 55 Chevy. He tracked down his original Whizzer Motor Bike through word of mouth of previous owners. After it was restored, it was loaned for a year to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame at Columbus, Ohio, as a valuable link in the history of motorcycles. This experience led him to become involved in the restoration and sales of Whizzer Motor Bikes. An avid outdoorsman, Tim enjoyed hunting and fishing and was especially fond of bow hunting. He respected the woods and wildlife and would hike in all the seasons to enjoy the beauty and peace of nature. His stories to his family were often of the sights and sounds of the woods, rather than the animals he hunted. Family was the main focus of Tim’s life. He was proud that his daughters and wife were teachers. They will long cherish the fact that he prayed each day that the Lord would help them as they taught children. He also liked to hear the family stories and the stories of times past. Tim will be missed by friends from every generation.A member of First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia, Tim spent his childhood and early years as an adult as a member of the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia. He often spoke to the Lord and tried to live up to His teaching by example and through helping others. His integrity and moral standards and outlook on life has influenced all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, the former Marylee Warner. The couple literally bumped heads one day at school, and the rest, as the story is told, is history. Tim was a father to daughters; Jennifer L. (husband, Zane) Ruth of York, PA and Jacquelyn L. (Joe Endres) of Columbus, OH. One grandchild; the apple of Tim’s eye, Vivian Marie Ruth, also survives. Two brothers; Mike Llewellyn of Dover and Dan (wife, Cindy) Llewellyn of New Philadelphia, as well as nieces and nephews; Shane Llewellyn of Dover, Shannon (husband, Chad) West of Dover, Danielle (husband, Ryan) Sherer of Tuscarawas, and Travis Llewellyn of New Philadelphia; an aunt; Mildred ( husband, Dale) Evans of Massillon also survives. Along with his parents, Tim is preceded in death by his grandparents Stanley and Margaret Price Llewellyn and Theodore J. and Ona Gladwell Vogel, and his sister-in-law; Jill Llewellyn. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, from 1:00 to 3:00PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where the Rev. Dr. Steven R. Bailey will lead Tim’s Memorial Service Monday morning, at 11:00AM.
